Fox Lake, WI - The Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee will take place in Fox Lake, WI, on May 16, 17 & 18, 2014. For the first time in 40 years of honoring the great Bunny Berigan, the Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee will be featuring a guest artist along with the terrific bands made up of excellent musicians. This year the Jazz Jubilee is adding the talents of Steve Lilley, Coronet player from St. Louis. Steve will be a member of the Bunny Berigan Memorial and can be heard playing a number with many of the other bands during the Jazz Jubilee. He will also be one of the featured speakers of the weekend, giving a glimpse into the real Bunny Berigan.
Steve is the leader of the St. Louis Stompers Classic Jazz Band, having joined the Stompers in 1994. Over the years he has played with a number of jazz groups. In fact, a group he led may have had the longest name of any trad group in the St. Louis area, The Chamber Music Society of Greater Lincoln County. He has performed with numerous jazz bands including ten years with Jean Kittrell. He continues to play with the St. Louis Rivermen, Red Lehrs Powerhouse Five, and the Old Saint Louis Levee Band. A retired high school teacher, Steve has also written three history books and several magazine articles. Steve has an engaging smile, a hot coronet, and a sparkling personality that no one will want to miss as the Bunny Berigan Jazz Jubilee welcomes him to the festival.
