St Peter’s Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Hwy MM and Hwy R, in Lebanon (NE of Watertown), will be holding its 18th annual Christmas Cookie and Craft Sale and luncheon on Saturday, December 5 from 8 am to 3 pm and also on Sunday, December 6 from 9 am to 1 pm. Craft booths line the church entrance area on the way to the cookie sale. Over 150 varieties of cookies and candies will be available for $7.50 per pound. The bakers at St. Peter's are making 3000 pounds of cookies and candy in their recently remodeled church kitchen (approximately 40,000 cookies). Decorated cut-outs, gingerbread men, turtle bars, snickerdoodles, Polar Bears, Cinnabon cookies, Andes Mint cookies, fudge, almond bark, cashew and almond toffee, nut clusters, rum balls, cranberry hootycreeks, Scotch shortbread, and buckeyes are just a few of the varieties that will be available for sale. If you work up an appetite selecting your favorite cookies, there will be fresh cinnamon rolls, Kranz Kuchen, a variety of homemade soups (chili, veg beef, salmon chowder, Reuben, stuffed pepper, roasted butternut, to name a few), sandwiches, and baked potatoes with toppings ready to eat or take home for later. Celebrate the holiday season in Waupun! Waupun kicks off December with a Christmas parade on Main Street on December 1 at 6:30 p.m. For their Avenue of Angels which runs December 1-4, visitors can enjoy entertainment, the festival of trees, Santa, as well as cookies, cider and hot chocolate in the evenings at the historic Waupun City Hall Auditorium. The week's activities kick off on Tuesday, December 1 where you can enjoy music by Vicki Belleville and Guests and get your picture taken with Santa. Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Claus will be on stage reading Christmas stories. At 6:45 is 'Reindeer Games. It's family fun night where everyone can enjoy carnival games to win prizes. Thursday at 6:00 p.m. listen to a Mixed Blessings concert featuring a variety of of local church choirs. Friday at 6:00 p.m. watch Home for the Holidays, a dance recital. Come to Beaver Dam on Saturday, December 5 to enjoy their Holiday Parade. The Committee from Downtown Beaver Dam, Inc., announced this year’s theme to be “Holiday Stories.” The parade is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
A coloring contest for 1st through 5th graders began on November 3. Coloring contest forms will be distributed to the grade schools. A boy and girl winner will be crowned Master and Miss Frost and will ride in the parade with Santa.
Visitors to Beaver Dam can also enjoy the downtown businesses who have been asked to participate in a decorating contest. Store owners will decorate their windows with the same theme as the parade, Holiday Stories.
The parade 'After Party' will be hosted by American National Bank immediately after the parade. Parade participants, their families and friends, and the general public are invited to attend.
